Help us celebrate Pennsylvania’s public lands!

Healthy Lands Week is a statewide initiative to strengthen volunteer activities and raise awareness of stewardship of public lands. Through clean-up and beautification events, invasive species removal and maintenance projects, volunteer recognitions, and other initiatives, it is an annual “rallying cry” for public stewardship of public lands, parks and open spaces in Pennsylvania. This year’s impactful event runs from National Public Lands Day on September 24 through A Walk in Penn’s Woods Day on October 2. Healthy Lands Week also supports Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful’s Pick Up Pennsylvania initiative.

Healthy Lands Week was designed to meet the following goals:

  • Build an understanding of our individual roles in the stewardship of public areas and open spaces.
  • Strengthen volunteerism in the outdoors by engaging the public in volunteer events.
  • Create a sustainable system of public lands.
  • Engage volunteers in projects that include tree planting, trail maintenance, painting, invasive removal, litter removal, etc. while building understanding of the value of these activities
  • Develop an understanding of our individual actions on public spaces, both helpful and harmful.
  • Have fun and make friends!
